Each year, the training program will select and appoint pre-doctoral trainees who will be supported for up to 5 years, and 2 postdoctoral fellows, who will be supported for up to 3 years. At full capacity, the program will support 4 pre-doctoral students and 4 postdoctoral fellows per year. Altogether, the program is anticipated to support a total of 6-8 pre-doctoral trainees and 8-10 post-doctoral trainees over the 5-year funding period

Eligibility

Pre-Doctoral

All Pre-Docs must be enrolled at either the Columbia School of Social Work or the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Post-Doctoral

All Post-Docs are eligible if they have earned a doctoral diploma (e.g, PhD, MD, ScD, etc). If you wish to apply please go to “Apply” on the navigation bar where you will find the necessary forms. Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Pre-Doctoral

In order to apply to a position as a Pre-Doctoral fellow, you must apply to either the Pre-Doctoral program at the Columbia School of Social Work or the Mailman School of Public Health.

Post-Doctoral

In order to apply to a Post-Doctoral Position you must submit an application (see below) to our administrator.

Personal Information Form: Please fill in all questions. This fellowship is open to US citizens and permanent residents.

Statement of Research: What are your research interests with respect to HIV, substance abuse, and criminal justice? What is a pressing current problem in those areas that needs attention in the field(s) of social work and/or public health? What qualifies you as a unique and/or outstanding candidate for this fellowship?

The statement should be no more than 1 page, using 11- or 12-point font.

Curriculum Vitae: The curriculum vitae should include the following sections:

  • Name and Mailing address.
  • Education with degree and dates of completion.
  • Paid employment.
  • Honors and awards (including grant awards).
  • Professional affiliations and licensures.
  • Research and evaluation experience, teaching experience, publications, presentations at conferences, and continuing education.

Writing Sample: This is an optional item. The submission should be a scholarly, journal length manuscript that the applicant was the major contributor (first author).
